The following patient presented with complaints of headache, sleepiness, and non compliance with his CPAP machine.
Dr. Berley: Can you tell us why you came into our office today?
Patient: Well, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and was given a CPAP and I gave it a couple of months and I just can't tolerate it. I am only getting about 2 to 4 hours of somewhat quality sleep a night. The sound that the CPAP makes when it becomes uncomfortable you get this little hissing sound. That little "hisssss" and you try to adjust it and its just intolerable to get through each night. So I really need your help.
Dr. Berley: What were we able to do for you?
Patient: You took a mold of my mouth and then gave me this device here. And ever since you've given it to me, it's just as easy as putting it in like that I sleep through the night. I can sleep 8 hours and not wake up. It's that easy to take out. My wife is sleeping at night again. We are actually sleeping in the same bed again. I haven't had one night of restless sleep since. I wake up energized every morning. So, this has actually been a life saver for my health and of course my wife is very happy.
Dr. Berley: Have there been any problems with the device?
Patient: I haven't had one problem whatsoever. Not even one problem.
Dr. Berley: And you're not sleep anymore?
Patient: No not once. I mean I used to want to sleep until 10 o'clock and then I was exhausted at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. I had to take a nap whenever I was using the CPAP and now I can get 7-8 hours of steady and quality sleep. I'm not tired throughout the day. So, this is definitely something I'm very very pleased with.
